Supported browsers and system requirements

Camila is a modern web app. We work on every major browser updated in the last two years.

Supported browsers

Browser Minimum version Notes
Chrome (desktop, Android) Last 2 major Best support, least quirks
Edge (Windows, Mac) Last 2 major Same engine as Chrome — works identically
Firefox Last 2 major Excellent support; may need media.autoplay setting tweaks for new accounts
Safari (Mac) 16+ Fully supported
Safari (iOS) 16+ Fully supported, including Apple Pay
Brave Last 2 major Works; some "shields" can interfere with chat — see below
Samsung Internet (Android) 21+ Works
Opera Last 2 major Works; built-in VPN may slow streams

Browsers we don't support (these may partially work but expect issues):

  • Internet Explorer of any version (deprecated since 2022)
  • Old Android System WebView shipped with Android < 11
  • Pre-2022 Safari on macOS Big Sur or earlier
  • Tor browser — geo-blocking and our anti-fraud system flag Tor traffic; you can browse but most actions (tipping, payments, DMs) won't work

System requirements

Watching HD:

  • Any computer from 2018 or newer with 4 GB+ RAM
  • Stable connection at 5+ Mbps download for 720p, 8+ Mbps for 1080p
  • A graphics card or integrated GPU with H.264 hardware decoding (standard since 2015)

Watching mobile:

  • Phone from 2020 or newer
  • iOS 16+ or Android 11+
  • 3 GB+ RAM (Android lower-RAM phones hit memory limits in long sessions)

Broadcasting (models):

  • Computer from 2020 or newer with 8 GB+ RAM
  • Webcam at 1080p with hardware encoding (Logitech C920 / Brio recommended)
  • Stable upload at 6+ Mbps for 720p, 10+ Mbps for 1080p
  • Wired ethernet preferred over WiFi

Browser shields and extensions that interfere

A few extensions are known to break Camila:

  • uBlock Origin / AdBlock Plus with default lists — blocks our chat WebSocket and tip pixel. Add camila.live to the allowlist.
  • Brave Shields at default level — same problem; switch shields to Standard or off for camila.live.
  • NoScript / ScriptSafe — Camila is a JavaScript app; nothing works without scripts.
  • Privacy Badger — sometimes blocks our analytics; doesn't break the platform but can hide moderator badges in chat.
  • HTTPS Everywhere — fine, redundant since 2023 (we're HTTPS-only) but won't break anything.
  • Translation extensions — modify the page, sometimes break the chat input. Disable on camila.live.
  • VPN browser extensions — can route you through a region where Camila is restricted. If a model says "I can't see you in chat", check your VPN.

What if I can't update my browser

If you're on a work computer that locks browser updates, or an old phone, you can still:

  • Use the audio-only player mode (works on much older browsers)
  • Browse profiles, send tips, and read DMs via our HTML-only fallback page (no JavaScript required) at camila.live/lite
  • Top up CX through the same fallback page

The lite version doesn't have live video, but it's a usable Camila experience even on a Kindle e-reader or a 2010-era netbook.

Testing your setup

Run through camila.live/test before going live or if streams keep failing. The test page checks:

  • Browser engine and version
  • Network speed and latency to our nearest data centre
  • Codec support (H.264, VP9, AV1)
  • WebSocket connectivity (chat / tipping / toy commands)
  • Camera and microphone access (if you grant permission)

The test takes 30 seconds and gives you a green-light or specific error to fix.
