Why was my payment declined?

When a card payment fails, your bank tells us only that it declined — not exactly why. Here are the seven causes that account for almost every decline, in order of frequency.

1. Your bank blocked the merchant

By far the most common cause. Many banks (Chase, Capital One, RBC, Revolut, Nubank, and most challenger banks) decline first-time adult-related charges automatically. The fix:

  • Open your bank's mobile app — many banks now show the declined transaction with an Approve button right inside the alert.
  • If there's no approve button, call the number on the back of your card and ask them to whitelist the descriptor for future purchases. Mention it's CMLAXCHATS*.
  • Some banks (notably Bank of America and HSBC) let you flag adult merchants as approved in the card settings page.

2. 3-D Secure (Verified by Visa / Mastercard SecureCode) failed

You'll see a screen asking for a one-time code. If the code didn't arrive, check your phone's SMS, and your bank's app for a push notification — many banks have moved 3-D Secure into the app.

3. Insufficient funds, or over the limit

Self-explanatory. Top up the card or use a different one. Larger CX packs sometimes go over a daily online-spending limit set by the bank — try a smaller pack first.

4. Wrong card details

Triple-check the card number, expiry, CVV, and the billing postcode. A single wrong digit fails every time.

5. Card not enabled for online use, or for international use

Some banks ship cards with online payments off by default; some keep international transactions off until you toggle them on. Check the card's settings in your bank app.

6. Velocity check on too many recent attempts

After three or four declines in a row, our processor's anti-fraud system temporarily blocks new attempts on that card for 30 minutes. Wait, then try again — or use a different method.

7. The card has expired

It happens.

Still nothing works?

  • Try Apple Pay or Google Pay — these go through a different network and have a much higher acceptance rate for adult merchants.
  • Try crypto (Bitcoin or USDT) — no card involvement.
  • Try a prepaid card (PaysafeCard) — funded with cash at convenience stores.
  • Contact support at support@camila.live with the date and time of the attempt, the last four digits of the card, and the country your bank is in. We'll check our logs for any platform-side issue and reply within four hours.
